MyGuy Internet Café
MyGuy Internet Café is a Small Enterprise Development/Information and Communication Technology project that took place in Mosteiros, Fogo in 2008-2009. The startup funds for the project were raised from private donors through a proposal on this website. The result is a privately operated Internet Café which doubles as a space for community training in computer and Internet literacy.

Outcome
Although the business is now fully functional, the project went over budget, mainly because of costs associated with transportation. It is difficult to overstate the logistical challenges of importing tools and materials through the port in Praia or São Filipe, and getting them to your site. PCVs should carefully research and scrutinize their budget for customs fees (typically 30% of assessed value), numerous fees for paperwork processing, your personal transportation to the port, fees to merely enter and exit the port, and transportation of the materials to site.
