Objectives:

• Use auto fill-in with formulas

1)      This lesson is quite short, to give students maximum amount of time to practice with formulas, as they are a difficult concept to learn. Open up yesterday’s exercise (7) to demonstrate this concept. Wipe out the Total column and line if it has been filled in.

2)      Remind students of what they did yesterday. Specifically, fill in the first couple formulas of the Total column, noting that until today, they have been filling in each cell individually. However, that is not necessary. To use auto fill-in with formulas, click on the lower right corner of the first cell with a formula, and drag to fill in the rest. For example, do the first cell in the column, then click and drag to fill in the rest.

3)      Hand out Exercise 8, pointing out that they can use this technique to save a lot of time on the table. They need only write in 4 formulas, then they can click and drag to do the rest.
